Mardi Gras In Detroit is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides a positive and safe environment as our infrastructure is being repaired and rebuilt for hope in Detroit. Mardi Gras In Detroit was celebrated for the first time in history August 24, 2019 celebrating C.E.O sons birthday, also in remembrance of New Orleans worst natural disaster, August 29, 2005 known as hurricane Katrina.
The mission of Mardi Gras In Detroit is to intensify the development of the the east side of Detroit through the Morningside Community. Detroit and New Orleans are similar in some interesting ways, from corruption, high crime rates, and poverty to poor schools in our communities. Sharing the atmosphere of Mardi Gras In Detroit penetrated Detroiters hearts as we parade down Lakepointe from E. Warren to Mack bringing hope back into our communities. The first parade was a huge success thanks to sponsors such as DPSD, Delta Dental, Morningside Community and individual donations. The Mardi Gras In Detroit organization is an independent not- for- profit, tax-exempt organization. Funding is derived from corporate sponsorships, foundations and individual donations. The organization receives no local, state or federal appropriations.
